How do I get a weekly digest of all my inboxes with AI?

Ask your AI assistant for one weekly summary across all your Gmail accounts, by hand or on a schedule in Claude or ChatGPT. Prompts, limits and privacy notes.

Updated · 4 min read

Connect your inboxes to one read-only MCP server, then ask your assistant: "Search all my accounts for the last 7 days and give me a digest by inbox." You can repeat that by hand each Monday, or put it in a scheduled task in Claude or ChatGPT where your plan allows it.

How do I ask for a digest of all my inboxes?

Give the assistant a time range, the inboxes and the format. With Nickbox the assistant calls search_all_accounts for the range and read_email for the few messages that need a closer look. A prompt that works:

  1. "Which accounts do you see?" This checks your nicknames.
  2. "Search work, billing and personal for mail from the last 7 days with newer_than:7d."
  3. "Give me a digest with one section per inbox: what needs a reply, what has a deadline, and what is only informational. Keep each section to five lines."
  4. "List the sender and subject of every message you did not read in full."

Step 4 matters. It tells you what the digest skipped. Search returns headers and snippets, and the assistant opens only some messages, so a digest is a map and not a full read.

What should a useful weekly digest contain?

A useful digest answers three questions: what is waiting on me, what is waiting on someone else, and what has a date. Ask for those sections by name and the output stays short enough to read on Monday morning.

  • Waiting on me: threads where the last message is from someone else and asks something.
  • Waiting on them: threads where you wrote last and no one replied.
  • Dates: deadlines, invoices due, meetings mentioned in the text.
  • Money: payment notices and invoices, with amounts only when the email body states them.

For invoice-specific searches, see how to find every invoice across your Gmail accounts. You can also add Gmail operators such as is:unread or label:clients to the prompt. The operators are listed in Gmail's search help.

Can the assistant send me the digest on a schedule?

Some assistants can, on certain plans. Claude and ChatGPT both have scheduled tasks. Nickbox itself does not schedule anything, since it only answers when your assistant calls it.

Claude ChatGPT
Feature Scheduled tasks Tasks, under Scheduled in the sidebar
Plans Pro, Max, Team, Enterprise Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise (limited use on Free)
Runs when your computer is off Yes, in the cloud Not confirmed here
Cadence Hourly, daily, weekdays, weekly One-time or recurring; hourly and exact times need a paid plan
Uses your connected tools Yes, per Claude's help page Connected apps are supported; MCP connectors unconfirmed

Claude's help center says scheduled tasks run on their cadence even when your computer is asleep or the app is closed and use connected tools. Web and mobile access is in beta. OpenAI's task page lists active task limits by plan, 5 on Plus for example, and notification settings under Settings, Notifications. Menu names and limits change, so check your own app.

How do I schedule the digest?

Create the task from the prompt that already worked by hand. Setup follows the same shape in either assistant.

  1. Run the digest prompt manually first and fix the wording until the output is right.
  2. Create a scheduled task and paste that prompt.
  3. Choose a cadence, such as weekly on Monday morning.
  4. Run the task once on demand and read the result.
  5. If the task cannot reach your connector, open the assistant's connector settings and confirm the Nickbox connection is still signed in.

We could not confirm that every assistant exposes custom MCP connectors inside scheduled tasks. Step 4 is how you find out for your account, and it costs one run. If it does not work, keep the manual prompt and run it each week.

What are the privacy limits of a digest?

A digest copies parts of your mail into a chat. Nickbox reads mail only when your assistant asks and does not store message content, but the assistant keeps the conversation under its own settings. Anything the digest quotes sits in that history until you delete it.

Practical habits:

  • Ask for subjects and one-line summaries instead of full quotes.
  • Leave out inboxes that hold sensitive threads, such as medical or legal mail.
  • Delete old digest conversations in your assistant.
  • Remember that email is untrusted input. A message can contain instructions aimed at the assistant. Read-only access stops sending and deleting, and it does not stop an assistant from being misled, so skim the digest with that in mind.

The security page lists what Nickbox stores, and the safety guide covers prompt injection.

What do I need to start?

You need two to five Gmail inboxes connected and an assistant that accepts custom connectors. Guides for Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor show the connection. Nickbox is in a limited beta, with few places while Google's verification is pending. The plan is on the pricing page: US$5 a month or US$48 a year, up to 5 inboxes, with a 7-day trial that needs a card.

Questions

Can the digest arrive by email on its own?

Not from Nickbox, which only reads. A scheduled task in your assistant can run the prompt each week and notify you in the app. ChatGPT lets you choose push, email or both for task notifications.

Does a scheduled task work with my custom MCP connector?

Claude says scheduled tasks use connected tools. We could not confirm that this covers custom MCP connectors in every app, so run the task once by hand and check the result.

Will the digest include every email?

No. Search returns pages of headers and snippets, and the assistant reads only some messages in full. Use a tight date range and verify anything important in Gmail.

Does Nickbox keep a copy of my digest?

No. Nickbox does not store message content. The digest text lives in your assistant's conversation history, which you control there.
