Frequently asked questions
Is Nickbox a Gmail connector or a Gmail MCP server?
Both names describe the same kind of thing. Claude and ChatGPT call a plug-in a connector, and developers call the server behind it an MCP server. Nickbox is a hosted, read-only Gmail MCP server that you add to your assistant as a custom connector, so up to 5 inboxes work together under nicknames.
What is Nickbox?
Nickbox is a hosted MCP server that connects several Gmail accounts to your AI assistant at once. Each inbox gets a nickname so you can ask about one, some or all of them.
Which assistants work with it?
Any client that supports remote MCP servers with OAuth: Claude on the web and desktop, Claude Code, Gemini CLI, the Gemini app where custom apps are available, ChatGPT with developer mode, Cursor and VS Code. Our docs have a guide for each.
Can Nickbox send or delete email?
No. We ask Google for gmail.readonly, which only allows searching and reading.
Do you store my emails?
No. Messages are fetched when your assistant asks and returned straight away. We store connection details and an encrypted token per inbox.
Why does Google show an "unverified app" warning?
Google reviews every app that reads Gmail. We have not finished that verification yet, so Google shows the warning and lets an unverified app connect only 100 Gmail accounts in total. Each account counts for good, even after it is disconnected. That is why the beta is limited and can fill up.
What if the beta is full?
Google limits an unverified app to 100 connected Gmail accounts, so Nickbox can take only a few people. When the places run out, you see a page that says so, and you can leave your email on the interest list. We write when more places open.
ChatGPT now supports several Gmail accounts. Why use Nickbox?
If ChatGPT is the only assistant you use and you are fine giving it permission to send mail, its built-in option may be enough. Nickbox gives Claude, Gemini, Cursor and ChatGPT the same read-only inboxes under the same nicknames.
Does it work with Google Workspace?
Yes, as long as your Workspace admin allows third-party apps to access Gmail. Our docs include a note you can send your admin.
How many inboxes can I connect?
Up to five on the plan. Write to us if you need more.
How do I cancel?
Open Billing in the dashboard and cancel. You keep access until the end of the period you paid for.
Will you support Outlook or IMAP?
It is on the roadmap after the Gmail beta, with no date yet. Write to us if you need it and we will tell you when it ships.
