Add Nickbox to Claude Code with one command and sign in from the /mcp menu.
One command adds Nickbox to Claude Code, and the /mcp menu handles sign-in.
Before you start
- Claude Code installed and working in your terminal.
- A Nickbox account with at least one inbox connected.
- Your MCP URL. Here it is
https://nickbox.io/mcp; the real one is in the dashboard under Connect.
Steps
Add the server from your terminal:
claude mcp add --transport http nickbox https://nickbox.io/mcpBy default this saves the server for your current project. Add
--scope userif you want it in every project.Start Claude Code:
claudeInside Claude Code, run:
/mcpSelect nickbox and choose to authenticate. Your browser opens the Nickbox sign-in page.
Sign in with Google and approve read-only access. When the browser says you can close the tab, return to the terminal. The status of nickbox should now read connected.
Check it works
In Claude Code, ask:
list my inboxes
You should see the nicknames you set in the dashboard. You can also confirm the registration from the shell:
claude mcp list
Troubleshooting
- The browser does not open. Claude Code usually prints the sign-in URL in the terminal. Copy it into a browser by hand.
- nickbox shows "needs authentication" again. Run
/mcp, select nickbox and authenticate once more. Sign-in can expire or be revoked from your Google account. - Command not found or wrong flag. Run
claude --versionand update Claude Code. Older versions use different options for remote servers. - You added it to one project and it is missing in another. The default scope is the current project. Remove it with
claude mcp remove nickboxand add it again with--scope user. - Google blocks the sign-in on a Workspace account. Your admin must allow the app. See the Workspace admin guide.
